Hot!!! I am not a "hot" sleeper but I woke up sweating with this mattress pad. I have delt with "water proof" mattress pads in the past so I will give it some time for my body to adjust, but so far I sweat where my back touches the pad. I called the store and they suggested the "In Balance" topper to go over it. I will give that a try and see if a little distance between me and the water proof material helps. So far the quality is good, it washed and dried nicely. The price is steep but if it lasts long enough to provide a 10 year warrenty it would be worth it. April 18, 2015
Not for us We purchased this mattress pad because we wanted to get one with the bed and the added protection was a plus. It was not for us. My husband complained that it was making the bed too warm and I found it to take away from the softness of the foam layer of the mattress. It was also "noisy" when we moved, much like a plastic sheet. We were able to return the mattress pad and exchanged it for the In Balance mattress pad. We are both very happy with this one. My husband sleeps cooler and we have the softness of the mattress as it was in the store. April 16, 2015
Not noisy I purchased my bed & bedding in 2008. When my original SN waterproof pad was washed recently, it lost some of its' waterproofing. When I contacted the company, they sent me this mattress pad as a replacement free of charge. It came much faster than promised. I was a little nervous about it since some of the reviews mentioned it being noisy. I have had NO noise issues. My two year old is often in the bed as well and even with a restless toddler, there has been no noise issue. It fits the bed well, is comfortable, quiet and most important (esp. with toddler), waterproof. Really appreciated the replacement after 6 1/2 years. April 6, 2015
Feel for Yourself I was really on the fence about purchasing this. I've read every review on this site and was worried about dropping so much on something that didn't seem like a sure bet. I have a King Size P5 (no memory foam# and wanted to protect my investment. I was using a cheap plastic cover but it was noisy and at least one corner had come off every morning. I went to the local store and they let me feel the Total Protection Pad for myself. I was sold right there. Fit: When I put it on the mattress (which was incredibly easy with my wife) I was impressed with how well it fit. After reading some reviews that stated it was too large this was a concern. My bed is set at 45 and 30 and even at those relatively low settings I haven't experienced bunching or anything else adverse. Comfort: Extremely comfortable. Several reviews have complained that this cover sleeps hot but I haven't experienced any discomfort and I am a very hot bodied person. Noise: No unpleasant rustling or scratching of plastic here. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase. If you have doubts go to your local sleep number store and ask to try the pad for yourself. If you are concerned about bed bugs this is NOT the pad for you. I would recommend the total encasement cover for that worry but if you are looking for a solid cover to protect the mattress from spills, stains, or sweat this is the pad for you. April 5, 2015
Hot & Crinkly Very hot and noisy. It really does feel like you are sleeping on a plastic bag. Wish i had returned mine in 30 days. March 27, 2015
Noisy! Noisy! NOISY!!! I've been a big fan of sleep number beds. My P6 is wonderful, the staff at the store and on the phone are amazing and I brag about them to my friends and family. But this mattress protector....OH THIS MATTRESS PROTECTOR! It's like you're sleeping on a plastic bag! Every review on here is true. If you move a fraction of an inch, it's loud enough to wake you up. A company that is so focused on a good nights sleep has completely missed the mark on this product. It's completely counterproductive. It also retains heat, making it even more uncomfortable. By the way...it's 3:38am and I woke up due to the extreme noise of this protector. I just yanked it off and decided to write this review. Luckily, I'm still within the 30 return policy. Back to the store I go. My wife just breathed a sigh of relief after taking this product off the bed and is already asleep. Again, the bed...amazing. THIS product...DONT BUY! March 16, 2015
Way to warm! I have to completely agree with other people's reviews. I should have returned the mattress pad cover within the first 30 days. I was sleeping way too hot with this mattress protector on my bed. Ever since I've taken the mattress pad cover off I've slept Wonderfully. I absolutely love my bed. March 1, 2015
Wish I had read the reviews I wish I had read the reviews on this mattress pad. Like others have stated, it is quite loud, slides around on the bed when turning over, and retains heat. After 2 nights, we took the mattress pad off and put it aside and never thought about it again. I admit I was not diligent in returning it within the 30 day trial period. However, at this point, it is in new condition. Given the reviews this pad gets, Sleep Number should realize at this point that they have a bad product, discontinue it, and offer some sort of credit. I hope others don't make the same mistake. February 16, 2015

Answer:
Hi Bkzama, I'm happy to answer that question for you. The Total Protection Mattress Pad may sleep warmer than some of our other products, but the 100% cotton sleeping surface allows the pad to breathe naturally so heat can escape. If you tend to be a very warm sleeper, you may want to consider an In Balance or True Silver mattress pad instead.

If you'd like to learn more about any of our mattress pads, I hope you'll use the link below to talk with our Live Chat team so one of our agents can get you the information you need to make a decision.

Answer:
Hey Dwayne, thanks for posting! A Split King bed is made up of two Twin Long mattresses, so you should be ordering two Twin Long mattress pads. This is especially true if you ordered adjustable bases with your bed so the sides of your bed can still be adjusted separately. If you need more information, our Chat Team would be happy to answer any follow up questions you may have. You can use the link below to speak with a Chat agent from 7 AM to 11 PM every day.

Answer:
Hey, Dwayne! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I’ll be happy to answer that question for you today!

The Split King is actually made up of two Twin Long (Twin XL) mattresses, so any mattress pads you order should be Twin XLs. You’ll need one Twin XL pad for each side of your bed, especially if you ordered adjustable bases with your mattress. This will let each side of the Split King adjust independently.

If you need more information about your Split King, please use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM CT every day.

Hello, CindyS! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our In Balance Mattress Pad.

The In Balance Mattress Pad has deep pockets on the corners as well as fabric to wrap around the entire mattress sides, much like a fitted sheet. In addition, it also has the Sleep Number Smart Fit elastic bands on every corner for a more secure fit.

Partial in-balance?

I purchased this mattress pad along with my new sleep number bed last summer. After washing it a few weeks ago and hanging it instead of drying it, I noticed that you could see the honeycomb lining below the top cover, which, I only assume is the temperature balance layer. What I found, is that by being able to see this wet, it was approximately 20-22 inches shorter than the pad itself. I called, and was promptly sent a new one, however, it is the same circumstance. There is no where in any of the product descriptions, where it mentions the layers being partial. Do I have two of the same product with the same defective work?

Answer:
Hello, Shelby! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I’m happy to assist you with this question.

The In Balance Mattress pad is designed so the Outlast material (the honeycomb shaped material that regulates body heat) stops short of the head of the bed because it isn't effective when a pillow is placed on it. Stretching the Outlast material the whole length of the pad would increase the cost to you for very little gain, so we decided to cut the material hear the head of the bed so it has the best effect at the lowest price possible. If you love the feel of Outlast material and you’re interested in adding more to the head of your bed, our In Balance Pillowcase set would be a great solution for you and I've included a link to that item for your convenience:

Answer:
Hi Kaija, my name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. The Total Protection mattress pad is a waterproof barrier for the bed more so than a traditional pad. If you're looking for a mattress pad for cushioning and support, I would recommend looking at either the CoolFit Foam Layer or the In Balance Ultraloft Layer, both will provide great cushioning and support. If you need more information about this, please use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Answer:
Thanks for asking, DoubleYou! I'm happy to say our In Balance Mattress Pad is designed to fit any of our beds, including our new mLE model, so you should be able to add it to your bed without a problem. This product will add some additional cushion to the mattress, so it wouldn’t be unusual for you to find the mattress a little softer or more padded after adding it to the bed. If the bed feels a little too soft for you after adding the mattress pad, simply increase the firmness of the bed slightly to make up for the difference.

Answer:
Hi Brooke, thanks for asking! Our thickest comfort layer is our CoolFit Layer, which adds two inches of our CoolFit foam padding to the top of your bed. If you'd prefer non-foam padding, you may want to look into our In Balance UltraLoft Layer, as it adds some of the greatest cushion available out of all our comfort layers.

We have had ours for over 8 years and the "cheap" elastic straps are as tight as the first day we bought them. It gets regularly washed and dried and has not lost any size or fit factor.

Well, now that I know that I had the logic label on the wrong end of the bed, that makes perfect sense! Thank you. I wish the customer service person had known this when I called about it instead of sending me a new one. Training opportunity. And by the way, I love love love this pad. I find not only cooling, but adds a great comfort layer.
