Wish we skipped this one We haven't slept on this mattress pad for a full week yet, and are already regretting this purchase. At first I thought it was the mattress but I didn't understand why it was so comfortable in the store, yet awful at home. Last night after waking up at 3 am and rolling around I noticed a crinkling noise and realized the problem is the mattress pad. I am highly dissatisfied with this selection >.< October 15, 2014
Very loud to sleep on and holds too much heat! My husband I purchased our sleep number ILE king size bed in the labor day sale and it took over a month for us to get it to start with but we also purchased this mattress cover due to it adding the warranty and it being waterproof. We have little ones and wanted to make sure we were protecting such a pricey product. We loved the bed in the store but after sleeping on it for about 10 days we have found that the mattress pad is very loud and you hear the plastic every time you move and it holds all your body heat. In order to get a full nights sleep, even though its broken up into little spurts due to heat and noise, we have had lowered the temperature in our house and added fans to our bed room and we are still waking up soaked. I wish we would have skipped this purchase. Due to us having to wait so long to get the bed we have had the pad over the 30 days and we are stuck with it. I am very dissatisfied with this product. October 10, 2014
very noisy when turning or getting up out of bed We purchased our iLE bed this year at the labor day sale, the bed was so comfortable in the store. We purchased the mattress pads to protect the mattress and warranty. We had a regular king mattress before and slept great on it and the top had NO stains on it when we sold it. Now we have 2 expensive mattress pads that make a lot of noise when one of us gets out of bed. Of course it is past the 30 day window (our mattress pads arrived far in advance of the bed. While the quality is excellent, it doesn't help us sleep better. We are affected easily by temperature and noise so this was not a good fit for us. October 4, 2014
Excellent pad I've had the Total Protection Mattress Pad for my i8 queen size bed since I bought my bed in 2010. I've had no issues with the pad at all. It adds to the comfort the of the bed while adding protection for the mattress. Great product! September 13, 2014
Too Noisy We bought this mattress cover to provide additional protection to our new iLE mattress. However, after sleeping on it for a couple nights, we are planning to return it. It's just way too noisy when you move around, and it feels somewhat stiff. My husband complained that I was somewhat restless the other night and the noise of the cover is what woke him up (not me actually moving). I loved the idea of a waterproof protective layer, but until the noise issue is resolved, I can't justify the 10 year warranty. September 9, 2014
Very uncomfortable. This mattress pad is very noisey. Sounds like you are sleeping on a vinyl tablecloth. We returned it to the store. Only problem is we got the Split california King and this is the only pad they sell that fits the bed. Have looked other places and haven't found a pad to fit, VERY UNHAPPY AND DISSAPOINTED. There should be more options... August 19, 2014
Not Happy When adjusting/turning my position in bed I could hear a crinkle noise from the pad's fabric - like a plastic sheet. June 11, 2014
Too noisy, too hot We paid extra for the "NASA" fabric on the i8 Innovation Series flex-top king to have the benefit of the distribution of body heat. This bed is supposed to have "Temperature balancing sleep surface to absorb and release excess heat. " Our salesman encouraged us to get the Total Protection cover After putting this mattress pad on the bed, it negates the temperature balancing feature of the mattress, so why did he recommend this? It is holding all the body heat, making for an uncomfortable sleeping experience, even for someone like me who is always cold. Also, it makes a "squishy" noise whenever either partner moves in the bed, even just rolling. Getting up makes even more noise. That, together with the heat generating symptoms we were having, caused by the waterproof feature (per the helpful customer service rep who contacted us as a courtesy call following our purchase), we are returning it and exchanging it for an In Balance Layer cover and hope that will be more comfortable temperature-wise and quiet! With this style of bed, we are very limited as to purchasing bedding elsewhere so hope this different style will allow us to sleep more comfortably. May 28, 2014

    Answer:
Hi Bkzama, I'm happy to answer that question for you. The Total Protection Mattress Pad may sleep warmer than some of our other products, but the 100% cotton sleeping surface allows the pad to breathe naturally so heat can escape. If you tend to be a very warm sleeper, you may want to consider an In Balance or True Silver mattress pad instead.

    Answer:
Hey Dwayne, thanks for posting! A Split King bed is made up of two Twin Long mattresses, so you should be ordering two Twin Long mattress pads. This is especially true if you ordered adjustable bases with your bed so the sides of your bed can still be adjusted separately. If you need more information, our Chat Team would be happy to answer any follow up questions you may have. You can use the link below to speak with a Chat agent from 7 AM to 11 PM every day.

    Answer:
Hey, Dwayne! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I’ll be happy to answer that question for you today!

The Split King is actually made up of two Twin Long (Twin XL) mattresses, so any mattress pads you order should be Twin XLs. You’ll need one Twin XL pad for each side of your bed, especially if you ordered adjustable bases with your mattress. This will let each side of the Split King adjust independently.

If you need more information about your Split King, please use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM CT every day.

Hello, CindyS! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our In Balance Mattress Pad.

The In Balance Mattress Pad has deep pockets on the corners as well as fabric to wrap around the entire mattress sides, much like a fitted sheet. In addition, it also has the Sleep Number Smart Fit elastic bands on every corner for a more secure fit.

    Partial in-balance?

I purchased this mattress pad along with my new sleep number bed last summer. After washing it a few weeks ago and hanging it instead of drying it, I noticed that you could see the honeycomb lining below the top cover, which, I only assume is the temperature balance layer. What I found, is that by being able to see this wet, it was approximately 20-22 inches shorter than the pad itself. I called, and was promptly sent a new one, however, it is the same circumstance. There is no where in any of the product descriptions, where it mentions the layers being partial. Do I have two of the same product with the same defective work?

    Answer:
Hello, Shelby! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I’m happy to assist you with this question.

The In Balance Mattress pad is designed so the Outlast material (the honeycomb shaped material that regulates body heat) stops short of the head of the bed because it isn't effective when a pillow is placed on it. Stretching the Outlast material the whole length of the pad would increase the cost to you for very little gain, so we decided to cut the material hear the head of the bed so it has the best effect at the lowest price possible. If you love the feel of Outlast material and you’re interested in adding more to the head of your bed, our In Balance Pillowcase set would be a great solution for you and I've included a link to that item for your convenience:

I find not only cooling, but adds a great comfort layer.

    Answer:
Hi Kaija, my name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. The Total Protection mattress pad is a waterproof barrier for the bed more so than a traditional pad. If you're looking for a mattress pad for cushioning and support, I would recommend looking at either the CoolFit Foam Layer or the In Balance Ultraloft Layer, both will provide great cushioning and support. Answer:
Thanks for asking, DoubleYou! I'm happy to say our In Balance Mattress Pad is designed to fit any of our beds, including our new mLE model, so you should be able to add it to your bed without a problem. This product will add some additional cushion to the mattress, so it wouldn’t be unusual for you to find the mattress a little softer or more padded after adding it to the bed. If the bed feels a little too soft for you after adding the mattress pad, simply increase the firmness of the bed slightly to make up for the difference.

    Answer:
Hi Brooke, thanks for asking! Our thickest comfort layer is our CoolFit Layer, which adds two inches of our CoolFit foam padding to the top of your bed. If you'd prefer non-foam padding, you may want to look into our In Balance UltraLoft Layer, as it adds some of the greatest cushion available out of all our comfort layers.
