Sleep Number ® CoolFit ⢠Foam Contour Pillow
Not for stomach sleepers
This is a review of the free Sleep Number Pillow that I received for free as part of market research:
The pillow arrived nicely packaged. Immediately after opening I noticed a strange smell coming from the pillow. Luckily, the packaging included a card explaining the smell and how to air the pillow to remove the smell. The pillow is beautiful and well made. The cover is high quality with a nice zipper closure. Unfortunately, the pillow did not provide a comfortable night's sleep for me. I am a side and stomach sleeper and the pillow is designed for back/side sleeping. The pillow did stay cool which was nice. I received a free product for the purpose of my review. Opinions are 100% my own.

Product different than store sample
Both my husband & I tried the pillow in the store on two different occasions and agreed it offered head & neck support, plus was comfortable. The store sample was a Queen, we ordered a King but size really should not change the pillow. This is the worse pillow for support. My husband says it feels low, offers no support so I tried. My head felt like it was tilting backwards and within 15 minutes my neck and spine were aching...there is zero support. Perhaps the store sample was made differently but this pillow is going back.

Horrific Chemical Smell
I tried this pillow out in the store and it was nice. They did not have a king size in stock so they shipped it to me. I opened the package and a horrible chemical smell gushed out, I have had these airing out in my garage almost two weeks, brought them in the house to use with the newly arrived bed and they smell horrible. Instant headache! Before I purchased this $189 pillow I asked if they had the same chemical smell as some of the other foam pillows I had smelled, I was assured that sleep number used better materials and there would be no horrible chemical smells. Big lie, I had to take the pillow back to the garage.

This Coolfit Pilow gives me cold-sweats in the middle of the night. It is not cool the touch like it was in the store, and it's only use really is to be a comfortable pillow that will eventually give you a bad morning.
The paper-like wrapper is still on inside the pillow surrounding the foam and I do no want to remove that unless I need to return this item for a new one. Tell me if it does need to be removed or not.

My husband and I have had these pillows for a year now and these pillows flatten out and have no support. My husband contacted the customer service via chat online and he got told that isn't covered under warranty! stand behind your word! I have woken up with horrible neck and back pains every morning now and I think if we paid what we did for the pillows you should cover it under the warranty!

I bought this pillow to replace my existing 4" white foam contour pillow that I had and loved for over 5 years. This pillow is awful. It flattens out and provides no support when I sleep on my side and has an overpowering chemical smell. I agree with another reviewer that this product may have a quality control issue, though, since I did try one in the store and it seemed fine.

So excited...so let down...so soft I can't sleep
I wanted this pillow to be all it was described to be. I am a long-time GridZone Contour pillow user. I LOVE that pillow! I needed a second pillow, and thought the cooling design of this pillow would be perfect, as I sleep hot, and my pillow is often damp. So, I ordered the pillow, and couldn't wait for it to arrive.
I have tried it three nights now, and have given up. It is worthless! The foam is SOOO soft, that it won't hold my head up! I am 6'2", 195#, with a size 7 1/8" head, and ordered a 6" pillow. I would expect it would hold up my slightly smaller than average head. But within 5 minutes of laying down, my head has sagged to a very uncomfortable angle, as if I was laying on a 2" thick foam pillow. I read the reviews about room temp playing a factor. I try to sleep in a cool room, with the window open. Average nighttime temp is probably 60-64 degrees. Apparently too wam for this bag of mush.
On the upside... if you like a REALLY SOFT pillow, and have a light head, in a cold room...the pillow does offer a cooler sleep than any foam pillow I have slept on.
I'm bummed they are closing out the GridZone contour pillow! It is far superior, except for the cooling design. I hope they combine the two, and they'll have a winner! As it is, they are dropping the better (reviewed) pillow, according to their customers.

Too flat - no support
I am very small and bought the 4" thick on the recomendation of the sales person. But it flattens out at the touch to about 1 1/2 inches! I will try to exchange for the 5", but seems odd for a 98 pound woman to flatten it the first night.
It is comfortable except for this.
