Sleep Number® Down Alternative Pillow

Sleep Number ® Down Alternative Pillow 2.6 5 9 9
Great for a little while Bought 2 Firm & 2 medium support pillows back in September after we bought our new sleep number bed, pillows were great for a little over a month but now it's flat and does not offer much support. No better than $20 pillows from other stores. December 27, 2014
I bought this pillow in a weeks time I took it back to the store the pillow lost it's support the salesman said yes it was smaller then the other pillow on display. So I purchased coolfit pillow when I woke up I still had a sore neck and shoulder pain the salesman said that would be a better fit for me. Now I have a pillow I don't like because I can't exchange it. Very disappointed in there pillows. December 21, 2014
Pillow is already lumpy I bought 2 soft alternative down pillows 29 days ago. They are already lumpy and very uncomfortable to sleep with. I was going to exchange them (since it has been less than 30 days), but Sleep Number does not have any highly rated pillows. Their down pillows do not have any ratings, and cost over $150. I am definitely not going to spend extra money on a pillow that I am not confident will be comfortable for the long term. I am very disappointed that the pillows I bought are already lumpy, and they were not cheap! December 11, 2014
Very average, very expensive. I usually buy pillows at a big box store for less than $10. Since I like them thick and very firm, I have to replace them in 4-5 months. My wife gave me this one for as a gift thinking it would really last. I had to replace it 4 months later. The replacement cost $8 and is performing every bit as well as Sleep Number's. December 3, 2014
I like this! My first Select Comfort pillows. I got one soft for sleeping (I was used to down so I like soft) and one in medium for propping. I have them covered with the wonderful cool pillow protectors and am very happy! May 16, 2014
Surprised to read the bad reviews I have had these pillows for quite a few years, at least 5, and have not had the problems described by others. We wash and dry our pillows in our Bosch Nexxt washer and dryer regularly and have not noticed any reduction in loft. The reason I am writing this review is because my daughter called today to find out what kind of pillows they were so she could get some. When I checked the website I found these bad reviews. I can't explain why others have had problems. Maybe it is just a matter of caring for them properly. February 14, 2014
Trial Period is Too Short i bought two King pillows in medium firmness for my wife for Christmas. She gets neck pains while she sleeps and has been looking for a good pillow for a while. She received them at Christmas and put them on our bed in early January. In late January, they were starting to swish down and not offer much support. Called today and we missed the 30 day trial period, so no return or partial credit. I think for $100 pillows the return period should be longer. Going to order two firm pillows and try them out with a time clock running, so we can return if we do not love them. February 6, 2014
Pillow Flattens Quickly I've purchased 2 Down Alternative pillows on separate occasions and both in the medium height. I've had headaches throughout my life, and most have occurred in the mornings after I wake. These down alternative pillows are the most comfortable pillows I've used and they have helped me wake up in the mornings without headaches. That being said, I believe the down alternative filling is made of poor quality and does not hold its plushness well at all. I bought my first pillow and had to buy a replacement after a year. Roughly 9 months after, the second pillow flattened and once again, I had to purchase a THIRD pillow. Though I made the switch to the down alternative Pillowology pillow, I found that the Pillowology pillow lost its plushness in less than a year as well. The pillows were all very lofty when I first purchased them, however, they quickly flattened. This leads me to believe that the down alternative filling doesn't last very long and that I'd have to replace the pillow every 9-12 months. Though I am disappointed with the quality of the product and it's inability to withstand any wear and tear, the pillow is comfortable which is why I've purchased 3 of them. I can't recommend this pillow as it has poor value for someone who is looking for a comfortable and long lasting pillow. February 3, 2014

To clean your pillow, please machine wash using a commercial-size, front-loading washer; wash and rinse in warm water with mild detergent. To dry it, please Tumble dry at regular heat. Repeat this cycle as needed until the fill is completely dry. Remove the pillow promptly once it’s dry.

Happy shopping, Blab!

Answer:
I find it amusing that the answer from the sleep number expert is to wash your pillow as infrequently as possible. I have owned my pillow (down alternative, medium-firm; 3 sections) for just over a year. I always use two pillow cases on it to prevent it from becoming soiled. The pillow looks fresh and does not smell; it is not soiled, but the loft is gone and the pillow is not comfortable to sleep on now. When I asked a sleep number representative what to do to restore the loft, they told me to wash it (accompanied by the same information about using a commercial washer, using tennis balls in the dryer, etc.) to hopefully restore the loft. The pillow comes with a 5 yr warranty but that's only for pillow construction, such as seams; the loft is not included. Basically, this is just a standard pillow that cost a little more, but will have to be replaced within 6 months to 1 year.

No. When purchased the pillow was plump, and it stayed the same when taken out of the bag. It was very comfortable and I really liked it when trying it out in the store. I have had my pillow for just over a year. It begin to lose its level of comfort within 2-3 months and now feels flat like a much cheaper pillow.

Hello, Mandmmagic! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our pillows.

Sleep Number offers a wide variety of different pillow types, firmness, and specifications. Finding the correct pillow for you can be a very fun experience! We do not recommend one specific pillow or density for everyone, since every sleeper is different and has different comfort levels, but usually a medium to medium firm is what our previous side sleepers have purchased. In order to gain the proper comfort, you can chat with a Live Chat Representative on our website, test the pillows at your local Sleep Number store, or even use our "Create Your Perfect Pillow" tool, which pieces together an individualized pillow from our Pillowology product line!

If you have any questions regarding our pillows, please feel free to use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM CST every day.

Hi Sideways, thanks for visiting our site! We carry a variety of pillows that are great for side sleepers, but it can be a little hard to find out which one’s right for you just by looking at them. The best way to find a good pillow is to visit your local Sleep Number store and try a few to see which one feels most comfortable. If you don't have time to visit a store or you don't have one nearby, your next best course is to talk with our Live Chat team so we can find out what you need in a pillow and suggest one or two that meet your needs. You can chat with us anytime from 7 AM to 11 PM CT by copying the link below and pasting it into your web browser.

Is there a way to whiten this pillow?

My husband is a night sweater, so his pillow has some yellowing despite the fact that it's covered with the protector and the pillow case. I do wash the pillow case weekly, but was worried the protector night wear out too fast if I washed it that often, so I wash it monthly. Also thinking of getting a water proof pillow protector for his pillow, though might that cause him to sweat more? Help, please!

Answer:
Hi NJ, thanks for asking! There isn't an easy way to whiten your pillow once it gets dirty, but we definitely have a product that can help protect it from any further stains. Our Zip and Block Pillow Protector will provide the moisture protection your husband's pillow needs and can also help extend its life. Adding this product to your pillow could make it less breathable, so you may want to consider placing one of our In Balance pillow covers over the protector to help compensate for that.

You can find our Zip and Block Pillow Protector on our site using the search function or by copying the follow link and pasting it into your web browser.

Answer:
Hi Tomo, thanks for giving me a chance to answer this for you! Many stomach sleepers prefer to use softer pillows for sleeping to keep their head more level with the rest of their bodies. This can reduce strain on the neck and shoulders and help you sleep more comfortably. Comfort is a very personal thing, however, and what most find comfortable may or may not be right for you. If you have any more questions about our pillows or want some help choosing one that's right for you, please get in touch with us directly by copying the link below and pasting it into your web browser anytime from 7 AM to 11 PM CT and we'll be happy to help you find a pillow that will meet your needs.

Answer:
Hi Keerng, thanks for taking the time to post your question about our Down Alternative Pillow. I'm happy to help answer this for you.

As a general rule, we find that back sleepers generally prefer a firmer density pillow in order to receive the neck support they need to sleep comfortably and wake feeling refreshed. We think it's important to note, however, that everyone sleeps a bit differently, so a firm pillow density may not be the best fit for your unique needs.

The best way to find the bedding that will fit your needs best is to stop by your local store and test our bedding out. Answer:
No. When purchased the pillow was plump, and it stayed the same when taken out of the bag. It was very comfortable and I really liked it when trying it out in the store. I have had my pillow for just over a year. It begin to lose its level of comfort within 2-3 months and now feels flat like a much cheaper pillow.

I am a side sleeper for the most part and would like to know what density I should purchase for a down alternative pillow. I always wake up with neck pain and would really like to purchase the right type of pillow that will support my head and neck and let me wake up pain free if possible.
    Thanks.
