Sleep Number® Bed Modular Base

Sleep Number ® Bed Modular Base 3.2 5 29 29
Bases I have a problem with the bed being 100 % comfortable because of the hard plastic bases...why don't you have soft comfortable bases ? December 9, 2014
Base sagging We have had a Sleep Number bed for six year now. We love the bed and it has been reliable in all aspects. We have fitted the base into our existing queen frame and it fit nicely. Because of moving furniture and renovations we have assembled and disassembled several times and have not had any issues with the base locking back together and fitting snug. I did however notice some sagging in the vertical cross members. It may have been ok in over time but I built a set of slats out of 1x4 stock that were glued at right angles to give added vertical strength. One under each cross member works great and no worries about vertical support. November 28, 2014
Great Customer Service! The modular base on our Sleep Number bed broke after one year of use. It is made of heavy duty plastic and has hollow cross supports that the bed rests on. Two of our supports bent and deflected under the weight of the bed after a year. It happened slowly over time, resulting in a feeling that we were rolling to the middle. At first, we were concerned that the bed was not standing up. We were quite relieved when we looked and saw the issue with the base. We put the bed temporarily on a solid platform, and it is back to the great bed that it was. We called customer service, and Joy (who is a Sleep Number 65) ;-) was so incredibly helpful and did not hesitate to send us a new modular base. We'll have it in 7 days at no cost. We loved the bed. Now we love the customer service as well. July 30, 2014
Best Customer Service I've had my sleep number bed for a few years and love it. I did notice recently that one of the legs was cracked so I contacted customer service. They said they would send some new legs and asked how the rest of the frame was. I hadn't noticed any problems but they said they would send a new frame as well. Problem solved! Thanks for such great customer service. July 30, 2014
Best night sleep ever After years of sleeping on military cots I Absolutely love my sleep number, I talked so much about the beds comfort that my friends have gone out and purchased also. The customer service dept is outstanding keep up the great work!!! July 7, 2014
Best Bed Ever!!! I have had my Sleep Number bed for over 4 years now and still love it as much as ever. It has helped my back pain and improved my sleep more than I thought possible. I bought it with the modular base, and have not encountered a single problem. The base is sturdy, supports a large amount of weight without sagging or making any noise at all. I have the modular base in my original metal bed frame and attached to my wooden headboard. Everything fits perfectly and works great. The modular base cover stays in place perfectly and the mattress never moves or has to be adjusted. When my Sleep Number bed mattress was lifted off the base so I could inspect the base, the modular base was in perfect like new condition, and I feel sure it will last many more years. I am extremely happy with both the mattress and the modular base. I would recommend to anyone! February 15, 2014
Excellent Foundation! Solid as a rock. Reliable! This is easy to assemble and is as solid as a rock. And the foundation cover fits perfectly. I don't understand any of the reviews here that claim otherwise and can only imagine that these customers didn't assemble properly. It is sturdy and does't squeak like some metal foundations do when you roll around on the mattress. It was a breeze to assemble and has never presented any problems ever in over 4 yrs. I highly rec this product! February 4, 2014
Bad!!! The pieces won't stay together and the covering won't stay on! I love the mattress but the base is terrible! January 15, 2014

I have been told that they come with it at one store and another store informed me that I had to pay extra for the legs.

Hi David, my name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. The modular base legs aren't included with the purchase of the mattress and modular base, but can be added on to the order. If you chose the King/California King size option and enter a quantity of "1" it will send you the set you need, which in this case is a set of 12. If you need more information about this, please use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Hello, Paul! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our modular base.

Any headboards, including all of our Upholstered Headboards, will work with our modular base. The headboards can be attached to your current bed frame that the modular base is sitting in, or if you do not have a frame, they can be attached directly to the base with our headboard mounting brackets.

If you have any questions regarding the headboards or headboard brackets, please feel free to use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM CT every day.

Hello, OldenShorter. My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our Modular Base.

Our Modular Base is a standard 8" in height, which is meant to replace the industry standard sized box spring. At the moment, we do not offer a low profile option for this base, but I would recommend contacting our Customer Service for other options.

If you have any questions regarding our height options, please feel free to use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM CT every day.

Hello, Jodi! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our Modular Base assembly.

The Modular Bases cannot be stacked on top of other Modular Bases. They sit in either a standard frame or used with the Modular Base legs. If you are needing more height for the mattress, you can apply our longer Modular Base legs, but it is highly recommended that you do not stack the Modular Bases. They are not deigned to be stackable, and may result in structure instability.

If you have any questions regarding increasing the height of your bed, please feel free to use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM CST every day.

Hello, Queenie! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our Modular Base.

The Modular Base comes in many parts, which are easily assembled in your bedroom. The Queen size base includes 2 side rails, 6 support/end beams, and 4 deck panels. These are put together using pre-cut grooves in the pieces as well as locking pins.

The number of pieces and size of these components will vary depending on the size of the bed you purchase.

How will an expanded queen mattress fit on your queen base?

I plan to replace my Olympic Queen mattress with your expanded queen mattress. I understand your queen modular base fits into my existing queen frame. How do you make it to fit 66" wide mattress?I heard that the sides of the base pull out to extend to 66" but how thick and study are the pull out sides?
Can I use my existing base: queen box 60" wide and 4" thick and the board that is over it 66" w and 2" thick that originally converted my queen mattress to the Olympic Queen mattress 66x80, instead of your modular base?

Answer:
Hi Confused, thanks for giving me a chance to help you! The base we use with our Expanded Queen beds is a standard queen base with extension brackets attached to the four corners to support the larger deck panels we use for the Expanded Queen mattress. These brackets don't require the sides of the base to be pulled out, so it can handle the same weight and stresses our standard Queen beds can.

Your second question is a bit trickier because it can be hard to say whether or not your current base will work without seeing pictures of what you have in your home right now. We highly recommend using our Modular base, which is our version of a standard box spring, with your Sleep Number mattress unless your current bed frame has a solid, flat, and non-slat bottom that can provide the consistent support our beds need to work properly. If you use our Modular base with your mattress our Expanded Queen bed will work with most standard metal bed frames, but may not be compatible with frames that have sides that extend more than an inch or two up the base.

I really hope this information helps you, but it would still be a good idea for you to email a few pictures of your current bed frame to us at customerservcie@selectcomfort.com so we can confirm whether your current base will work or not. If you need anything else, please just copy the link below and paste it into your browser from 7 AM to 11 PM CT and we’ll be happy to assist you however we can.

Is a low proflie base available?

Our current bed is quite high. As we get older we are finding it more and more difficult to get in and out of. We were hoping for something in the 3 inch range. Thanks!

I am considering order a base for use when camping with a foam mattress, but can't find any information on whether the cover is included with the base. If it's not, how can one be ordered?

Hello, Verymelm! My name is Andy and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our Modular Base.

The white coverlet that matches the color of the mattress itself is included with the Modular Base. These coverlets are not sold separately.

If you have any questions regarding our assembly, please feel free to use the link below to speak with a member of our Live Chat team who will be happy to assist you. Our Chat agents are available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM CST every day.

Can I use my own bed frame?

We have a custom log bed frame. It has solid log supports between the log side rails. The frame is SOLID. Can I set the mattress and support base onto my log bed? I am not looking at the adjustable bed.
