Sleep Number® Rolling Bed Frame

Sleep Number ® Rolling Bed Frame 2.6 5 5 5
Not good for queen bed I'll echo the sentiment of the above reviewer on the queen bed. I've had a Queen Sleepnumber 9000 (I just love to say that in an Arnold voice) since 2008 and the past year or so it has felt like it was collapsing in on itself, I thought it was the foam getting squished or something.. Then last week the bed box started to fall apart one of the beams fell out, and I took it apart and saw it was very warped, and splitting along the edges. Support was excellent and immediately authorized a full replacement for the bed box itself(which I installed last night), though it still didn't feel right. I put a level on the frame and it said it was still balanced but something was wrong. At 3AM this morning I took the bed apart again and removed the bed frame, just putting the bed+box on the floor directly. Much better.. Then a short time ago I went to take apart the bed frame, and had to spend about 45 minutes with a hammer getting the thing apart(I'm no weakling!). The frame is pretty deformed now(where I was smacking it with the hammer) and I practically had to destroy the hammer to get it apart. Just going to toss it out, rather than get a replacement - it's clear that the metal beams are not wide enough to fully support the bed box(only goes about halfway which would explain the bed box beams splitting down the middle), and there is no support on the top or bottom of the bed box. It did last for several years though - I moved into this apartment two years ago and don't recall seeing any warping or splitting or problems with the bed in general when I re-assembled it at that time. I would of hoped the design would of been improved in the past 5 years but it appears it has not. I suspect this is not an uncommon problem as support was so helpful and gave absolutely no resistance when I asked for help. Short term keeping the bed+box on the floor is a fine solution, longer term may want to find something more proper to boost it off the floor, I'm pretty tall so it makes for less effort getting in/out of bed! So 5 stars for support, this particular frame with this particular bed I give 2 stars. For another type of bed it'd probably be fine Bonus points if Sleep number knows of a better solution for this bed (from them or even 3rd party). I'm not an expert in beds.. September 6, 2013
Rolling frame just does not work Rolling legs do not properly lock (or unlockes too easily) and our bed constantly moves, which is ridiculous. We need to replace the legs ASAP. May 16, 2012
Not as wonderful as I thought! As a bachelor, my husband used just the modular base as a platform for his mattress. I found the bed to be uncomfortably low that way, so I purchased the rolling bed frame from your company one year ago. At first, there were no problems. However, now, only a year later, we are having a major issue: the rolling bed frame cannot properly support the modular base, which has no bottom support(we have a queen bed frame, which has only two supports that in no way line up with the cross supports on the modular base), and the modular base is collapsing under us! I would NOT recommend this bed frame for use with the modular base, but it would be fine with a regular box spring. October 3, 2011
A Frame that fits the need After receiving this frame I found it easy to put together. It came in the box with one end slightly sticking out and only a little bit of the paint missing. This is hardly noticeable, especially when its put together. It attached to my headboard with ease and seems to be sturdy. I won't mention the brand name but I did a web search and found this item considerably cheaper from other sources. However, Select Comfort offers a 20 year warranty on it, the other places offer 5-10. April 22, 2010
Bed Frame This bed frame (I have the Queen size is overall very good. It is shipped along with the other boxes for your bed. Packaging could be a little better as mine arrived with a rip in the box, fortunately no damage to frame. It is VERY simple to put together, and requires NO tools- it kind of snaps into place. It is a perfect fit for the Sleep Number Bed. Quality is pretty good, I have seen better and worse, but for the money and the convenience and the guarantee that it will fit perfect there is no better value. January 7, 2009

Can you replace wheels with modular legs?

The wheels do not stay locked so our beds keep moving and rolling. Can we replace wheels with regular modular legs or do we need to replace the entire bed frame?

Hi DC Sean, my name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. We can't change out the wheels on the Rolling Bed Frame for the Foundation Legs, but you can attach the Foundation Legs right to the Modular Base for your bed, replacing the Rolling Bed Frame. Hello, Sandy! My name is Alan and I work for Sleep Number. I can gladly answer your question referring to our brackets.

The Headboard and Footboard brackets are meant to attach to the modular base. A headboard and a footboard can connect directly to your rolling bed frame if it has the available connections, or you can attach them to the modular base using the brackets.

Our headboard and footboard brackets are designed to attach to the Modular Base. A headboard and a footboard can connect directly to your Rolling Bed Frame assuming it has the available connections, or you can attach them to the modular base using the headboard and footboard brackets.

I am actually answering my own question with further research. I found adjustable bed frame risers at Walmart. There are 8 in each set - four 5 inch and four 3 inch risers. So, you can raise the frame 3, 5, or combine them and make 8 inch risers. You need to make sure your bed skirt is long enough to cover the risers though.

Hi Steff, thanks for taking the time to post your question! I'd be happy to help answer this for you. The height of the mattress depends on a few factors, namely which model of mattress you choose and whether you include the modular base (our version of a box spring). Our mattresses will vary in height from 8" for the c2 to 15" for the i10, and the modular base can add an additional 8" in height to the bed.

If you need more information on the height of our models, please feel free to post another question, or copy the link below and paste it into your web browser anytime from 7 AM to 11 PM CT if you’d rather talk with us directly and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Confused

I am looking at your beds and am a bit confused by all the choices. I would like a bed that I can raise the head and foot. I do not want massage, but I do have degenerative bone disease in my back so I need a quality mattress.

I have a beautiful king size frame with head and foot board and want to continue to use this. What are your suggestions for a mattress and will these beds fit my own frame?

Thanks

Thanks for asking, Mark! Our Modular bases are designed to measure up to an inch smaller than our Queen mattresses to ensure they fit into an industry standard frame, so the out-to-out dimensions for our Modular bases are 69-70" wide by 79-80" long. I have a split king sleep number set on an adjustable frame but would like to switch it to a regular base. Do you have to have a "special" base to put the mattresses on or can you just put them on a regular bed frame? If you want to raise them up, can you sit the mattresses on a regular box spring. If you do this, do you need to "attach" them in some way since they are now attached to the adjustable base?

Answer:
Hi Connie, thanks for taking the time to ask about converting your current bed from using an adjustable base to a standard base and frame. These are great questions! We want you to know that, while the mattresses are completely separate for our Split King size models, they will still meet a standard King size measurement, so they will fit inside a standard King size bed frame.

As our mattresses are made differently from a traditional innerspring mattress, they require slightly different support. For that reason, we recommend opting for our King size Modular Base as opposed to a traditional box spring, in order to provide you with the best support possible.

Since your new frame and base won't offer the ability to raise and lower the head and foot of the bed, there will be no need to attach the mattresses to the base.

If you have any other questions about your bed, please feel free to simply post them here, or you can copy the link below and paste it into your web browser from 7AM-11PM CST seven days a week to connect with our Live Chat Agents who can also help answer any questions you may have.

    Answer:
Thanks for posting your question, KatSmith. We appreciate you considering our beds and we're sorry the choices are a little confusing! We're more than happy to help you find a bed model that meets your needs, but we'll need to know a little more about what you like in a mattress before we can make a good recommendation for you. We also need to know the measurements of your current bed frame to be sure our Industry Standard-size beds will fit it correctly. Please copy the link below and paste it into your web browser anytime from 7 AM to 11 PM CT when you have a few minutes to talk so we can help you choose a bed model that fits your needs and will also fit your frame.

    Answer:
Thanks for asking, Mark! Our Modular bases are designed to measure up to an inch smaller than our Queen mattresses to ensure they fit into an industry standard frame, so the out-to-out dimensions for our Modular bases are 69-70" wide by 79-80" long. If you have any other questions or need to know the dimensions for our FlexFit™ adjustable bases, please copy the link below and paste it into your web browser to chat with us from 7 AM to 11 PM CT so we can help you in real time and make sure you have all the information you need to set up your base.
