Softness and more proper alignment

Sleep Number ® p5 bed is rated 3.9734 out of 5 by 263.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy! I've had a p5 for a little over a year. It started off being a great bed but the more we selpt on it we found a lot of proble!ms. The sensors do not read right all the time, so the pressure in the bed don't match the numbers. We like to keep our numbers between 35-50 but we found keeping them that low makes the foam in the bed push out and not hold the bed together right. The base is plastic and very cheap. It snaps together and does not hold together if u try to move it. The only other bad thing about the bed is if you have the king and both people are close to the middle is it makes one side really hard. I would save your money and buy a different bed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I thought Got a P5 in Oct. Had lower back pain on the first night. Its now Dec. I was told I'll be shipped a mattress insert to help make the bed more firm. Its about 2 months now and still received nothing. Tried several sleep numbers recommended by the support person. Tired of sleeping on this expensive air mattress. The sofa is not as comfortable but I wake up with less lower back pain. I regret having the Sleep # people remove my old bed. Now we have to purchase another bed. What a huge regret.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give Sleep# Staff a chance to help. I am truly like the fairy tale character "The Princess and the Pea." After almost giving up on finding a comfortable bed, I settled on a Queen Sleep#. I read the pro & con reviews and advise that you give the efficient and considerate staff a chance to provide whatever changes to the bed that may be necessary for your customized needs and continuing they have done for me. I purchased my bed 4 months ago and used all of the 100 day trial to be sure I gave myself every chance to adjust. I called the company several times for advice and they continued to make adjustments or replacements until my comfort was complete. I like not having to turn the bed and parts can be replaced, plus the 25 year warranty. So please call this wonderful and professional corporation and see what they can do for you, before you give up, as it takes time for some folks to adjust...but when they do they will comfortably sleep the whole night thru.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with purchase Now that we have owned our new bed for 5 months I am ready to comment. I have back issues and I blamed it on my job, of riding in a car, getting in and out of the car and lifting and bending over patients. After many visit to the Chiropractor, she asked about our mattress. It was time for a new one. She suggested that we look into a sleep number bed and that a retractable feature would be the best. We were very skeptic because of the cost. Gina helped us without being pushy. We have the p5 Queen. It has been a good investment so far. My Husband's # is 70. My # changes. When my back or Right hip hurts I am a 55 and sometimes a 70. On a really good day I love the softness of # 30. The retractable part is great! We have found our comfort zone. Head is slightly elevated. Elevating the feet has taken the tension off my back. I can stand in the morning without pain. The good part, we can always change the settings.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Feels like an air mattress As someone with a lower sleep number of 35, my half of our p5 bed feels like an air mattress. My partner sleeps on a 90, and his side feels hard but full. My side sits significantly lower than his, and I feel like I am sleeping in a little channel, like the middle of my half is lower than the sides. My weight doesn't feel evenly distributed, and it just feels like deflated air mattress. We paid to have the bed professional installed, so I know this isn't an error on our part. I wouldn't recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I absolutely love my new Sleep Number IQ Mattress. I have had a Sleep Number for years and I loved it, but my new mattress is even better. It is like sleeping on a cloud. I love the reports about how well I slept the night before that I get each morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from life is better with technology, and options It's amusing to think of having a piece of furniture that uses technology. That concept came home last night when we went to bed with the power out, so we began the night on a hard bed because of course the bed uses electricity to reach its setting. But the power soon came back on, DH hit the control and we slept great. I don't think we pay enough attention to the time we spend sleeping and how important it is to have an appropriate bed. I'm sure I spent more mental energy researching my dishwasher than I ever did buying a mattress. So in fact I thought we DID have a good bed, but it wasn't perfect for either of us. It turns out we each prefer a different firmness. After a couple nights, we became accustomed to the Sleep Number (it does have a different feel from an inner spring mattress), and found our preferred sleep number. Then I began the search for perfect pillows, because when you start to pay attention to the bed, and your whole sleep in general, the details will become more apparent. Now DH no longer tosses and turns toward morning, and I sometimes lower the setting a notch if I feel like snuggling into a softer bed. We selected the p5 with no special top except the standard mattress pad, and it's neither warm nor cool — just quite neutral. I also like that the mattress isn't heavy, which makes changing sheets easier, and yet the mattress stays put on the base and doesn't shift around. All in all, I can't think of anything I don't like about our new bed. I also bought a set of basic Sleep Number sheets, and they do fit a bit more snugly with the elastic straps than standard department store sheets.
