How do I find my Sleep Number® setting?

1. READY

Lie on your Sleep Number® bed in your favorite sleeping position and adjust your pillow to your liking. Using your remote, change your Sleep Number® setting to 100 (firmest), and then down to 20 (very soft).

2. SET

Now, set your Sleep Number® setting back to 100. As the mattress gets firmer, how do your neck, shoulders, hips and back feel? When you feel comfortably supported, stop. Make adjustments up or down, by no more than 5.

3. SLEEP

Try sleeping at this setting for the night. The next morning, if you need to make an adjustment, change your number by no more than 5. Use this setting for at least 3 or 4 nights.

Give your body a little time to adjust. Before you know it, you'll be enjoying all the benefits of a better night's sleep on your new Sleep Number® bed.

What can I do if I am waking up with a sore shoulder or neck?

When lying on your bed, your head and neck should maintain their alignment as if you were standing upright. If you have extra stress on the muscles in your neck, it can cause neck and shoulder pain. Try different pillows to find one that will allow you to maintain the most natural spinal alignment. We have a variety of pillows to fit your needs. How can I keep cool if I sleep too warm?

The Sleep Number® mattress contours closely to your body, which means your body is in contact with more of the mattress than if you were sleeping on a traditional inner-spring bed. This reduces pressure points on your body and allows for improved circulation. The combination of improved circulation and more overall support (contact with the mattress) may cause some individuals to sleep warmer.

To improve your comfort, consider these tips:
  • The type of bedding a person uses can contribute to the warmth of the bed. If you're sleeping too warm, we suggest using 100% cotton or our new CoolFit Foam bedding.

  • Featuring the latest breakthrough in sleeping comfort, gel technology enhances memory foam to allow for more airflow, creating a cooler, more comfortable sleeping temperature.

Can I use a heated mattress pad or electric blanket on the Sleep Number® bed?

Heated mattress pads and electric blankets can both be used with your Sleep Number® bed but should not be used with a FlexFit or Flexfit+ Adjustable Base. Both options, and other comfort layers we have available, are a great way to customize your sleep experience. Please note that the use of a heated product with the mattress will cause your Sleep Number® setting to vary. These variations are completely normal and they do not mean your mattress is losing or gaining air. Rather, they reflect the varied pressure in the air chamber due to the temperature difference.

How do I reduce allergens in my bed?

Seventy-five percent of allergy sufferers report trouble sleeping. How often should I change my Sleep Number® setting?

Changes to your Sleep Number® setting all depend on you! If you had a long day and need a softer night, then lower your Sleep Number®setting. If you are sore after working out and need firmer support, then increase your Sleep Number® setting. It is up to you when you want to change it!

If my sleep partner is sleeping lower or higher in bed, what do I do?

Occasionally when two sleep partners have different body types and Sleep Number® settings, it can cause one sleeper to be supported and cradled lower or higher in the bed than their sleep partner.
