It’s OK if your Sleep Number setting isn’t the same setting you found in the store. Give your body a little time to adjust. Soon you’ll be enjoying all the benefits of a better night’s sleep.

One of the great benefits of a Sleep Number bed is that you can change the firmness or softness whenever you’d like. Sore after working out? Long day on your feet? You can increase or decrease your Sleep Number setting for precisely the comfort you need.

You can always adjust the Sleep Number setting to the firmness, comfort and support that feels just right.Sleeping too hot or too cool? Need a more comfortable pillow? We have solutions that can enhance your sleep experience. Visit a Sleep Number store and let one of our Sleep Professionals individualize your comfort.

A Sleep Number bed is different than a traditional innerspring mattress, which is why it can take a little time to adjust. If you haven’t found that “just right” feel, we recommend adjusting your Sleep Number setting up or down by 5 to 10, and sleeping at that setting for 2 to 3 nights before adjusting again.

There are two filters in the DualTemp heating and cooling source. Remove the magnetic filter frames from the top and from the front/side. Next, remove each filter and hand wash or replace with new filters. To hand wash, use a mild soap and water solution and air-dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the magnetic filter frames.

Filters should be washed or replaced the every 6 months.

DualTemp™ User Guide
  • Turn on your DualTemp layer 20 minutes before going to bed.
  • Make sure the temperature of your room is set between 68-72 degrees for optimal performance of the DualTemp layer.
  • Keep the layer covered with a heavy blanket, comforter or quilt to maintain the desired temperature.
  • If you often wake up too warm or too cold, try setting the layer’s timer to turn off after 2-5 hours.
  • For more airflow to the lower portion of your bed, place the connections at the foot of the bed. Be sure the lighter gray side of the layer is facing up.
  • The DualTemp layer is meant to be on top of your mattress and mattress pad, and underneath a fitted sheet only.
  • Do not place a mattress pad on top of the DualTemp layer. Doing so will greatly reduce its performance.
  • Use sheets made from a breathable material that will allow for airflow. We recommend a 200-300 thread count fitted sheet. Flannel and micro-fleece sheets are not recommended.

Using Activity Tracker allows you to track what’s important to you by entering custom details about your day.

You can create unique activity tags for each sleeper. We recommend adding tags that are specific to your lifestyle. For example, exercise, diet, computer use before bed, medication, alcohol and caffeine are only some examples of the activities you may want to tag. For kids, consider tagging homework and extracurricular activities as well.

All you have to do is tag the activities you want to track for the day. You can even go back and tag your activities for past days. Go to trends to track your average SleepIQ score and activity tags for the past 90 days.

Make sure your bed has a proper baseline at the initial set up and after a power outage.

Baselining your bed allows SleepIQ technology to take a pressure reading of the bed with no one in bed, so that SleepIQ can accurately detect when you are in bed.

Verify the time zone assigned to your bed.

You can check and edit the bed’s time zone in the Bed Settings. Time zone is important, because SleepIQ will measure the longest sleep session in a 12-hour period spanning from 12:00 pm to 11:59 am the next morning.

Turn SleepIQ off when watching TV or reading in bed.

Turning off SleepIQ technology when you are in bed, but not sleeping, will prevent this from being tracked as a restless slice of your overall sleep session. To turn SleepIQ on or off via the SleepIQ App use the toggle switch in the Bed Settings. No sleep data will be recorded for either side of the bed when SleepIQ is turned off. To turn SleepIQ on or off with your remote hold down the Enter/Select button for 10 seconds or until your remote prompts you to turn SleepIQ on or off.

Baselining a Sleep Number bed

Baselining your bed allows SleepIQ technology to take a pressure reading of the bed with no one in bed, so that SleepIQ can accurately detect when you are in bed. Without a proper baseline SleepIQ will not know the difference between when you are in bed or out of bed which can result in inaccurate sleep data.

  • Set your bed to your Sleep Number setting while lying in bed. If your sleep partner is not there it is OK to set their side without them in bed.
  • Log into the Sleep IQ App
  • Tap on Remote.
  • Tap on the Settings Icon next to your bed.
  • Select Baseline
  • With no one on the bed, tap the Baseline button.

You should only need to baseline your bed at the initial set up or after a power outage.

Your SleepIQ data will show you your total time in bed, and how much of that time was restful, restless or out of bed. Tracked activities can be stored in your data. Based on your daily sleep data, SleepIQ will provide a report of your daily, weekly and monthly averages. Go to Trends to track your average SleepIQ Score and activity tags from the last 90 days.

You can edit your Sleeper Profile at any time by tapping on the Sleeper Settings for the Sleeper Profile you would like to edit. All sleeper information and account information can be edited. Once you are in the Sleeper Settings tap on the field that you would like to edit.

We all know that most adults need an average of 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night, but you may only be averaging 5 or 6 hours per night. SleepIQ technology can help you track how much sleep you are getting each night, and set achievable goals to get more sleep or maintain your existing sleep habits.

When setting your Sleep Goal we recommend setting an achievable goal and working your way up to your ideal sleep goal. Setting an unrealistic sleep goal can result in lower SleepIQ scores if you are not consistently reaching your goal.

Start by setting a goal that is a half hour longer than your current average hours of sleep per night. After you have reached that goal consistently for a few weeks, set a new goal until you have reached your ideal sleep goal.

Line drying your sheets is not required, however, can extend the life of the fabric. Sheets can become stiff if allowed to air dry. To soften the fabric, briefly toss in the dryer with a damp towel.

Avoid washing your sheets with towels or other fabrics that may shed. Avoid using fabric softeners, bleach or dryer sheets. Refer to the product label for specific care instructions.

Machine washing in cold water, using a mild detergent. Dry on the lowest heat setting until thoroughly dry. Avoid using chlorine bleach.

Do not machine wash or dry clean. This will result in shrinking and damage to the mattress cover or base coverlet. Spot clean your Sleep Number mattress cover and base coverlet with sparkling water and mild detergent. Do not saturate. Air dry. Do not apply stain-guard, as it may cause yellowing of the fabric.

Clean liquid spills with a dry, clean, absorbent white cloth. Blot liquid spills gently, avoid rubbing the spills. Rinse with clean water and blot dry with clean white absorbent cloth. For stubborn spills, use a mild detergent and warm water solution to spot clean. Remove soap residue from the surface with clean water. If a stain remains, a solvent, such as perchloroethylene or odorless mineral spirits, may be used.

We recommend working with two people to disassemble or reassemble your bed.
