Start by uber-cleaning your bedroom.
Wipe bedroom floors, furniture, and tops of doors, windowsills and walls with a damp cloth to trap particles. Use a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner and invest in a HEPA air purifier. Choose hypoallergenic bedding.

Bathe pets—and wash stuffed animals—frequently.
If you can, try to keep pets out of the bedroom (especially after a bath!). It’s best to wash your kids’ stuffed toys as often as you do their bedding. Stuffed animals are an excellent breeding ground for dust mites.
Invest in a dehumidifier
If you don't air condition the house, a dehumidifier makes a big difference. That’s because dust mites and other allergens thrive in humidity over 50%.
Undress in another room
Avoid bringing in allergens from outside by changing in the bathroom or laundry room. During heavy pollen season, it’s a good idea to shower before bedtime.
