Compatibility Requirements For SleepIQ® Technology "},{"body":"
A Wi-Fi connection is required to set up SleepIQ Technology and get the full benefits of your bed.
\n
This article outlines the types of networks that are not compatible with SleepIQ Technology. Read our article on Device Requirements for SleepIQ Technology for full details on mobile device, Wi-Fi and router compatibility requirements.
\n

\n
Mobile hotspots
\n
\n
You may be able to connect your bed to a mobile hotspot, but we don’t recommend it. Using a mobile hotspot can result in interrupted connections and inaccurate sleep data. SleepIQ Technology works best with a 24/7 internet connection.
\n
\n
Guest networks and open networks
\n
\n
SleepIQ Technology cannot connect to an open network. A Wi-Fi password is required to connect your bed to Wi-Fi.
\n
\n
5.0 GHz Wi-Fi networks
\n
\n
\n
SleepIQ Technology requires a 2.4 GHz setting to connect to your home WiFi network. 5.0 GHz networks are not supported and will not connect to SleepIQ Technology. Most newer routers broadcast both settings, but the only way to be sure of your network setting is to check with your internet service provider.
\n
\n
\n
Captive portal networks
\n
\n
Captive portal networks require you to sign in on a web page before connecting a device to the internet. This type of network is common in coffee shops and hotels. SleepIQ Technology is not able to connect to a captive portal network.
\n
\n
Hidden Networks
\n
\n
A hidden network is one that the owner has chosen to hide from devices scanning for an available Wi-Fi network. The SleepIQ app has the option to add a hidden Wi-Fi network during setup. This works for a 2.4 GHz hidden network. SleepIQ Technology will not detect or connect to a 5.0 GHz network, even if it is not a hidden network. Adding a 5.0 GHz network as a hidden network is not a work around.
\n
\n

","id":360009046333,"section_id":360000911893,"label_names":["network","wifi","Wi-Fi","compatibility"],"promoted":false,"snUrl":"/support/categories/204218648-SleepIQ-App/articles/360009046333-Wi-Fi-Networks-That-Are-Not-Compatible-With-SleepIQ-Technology","title":"Wi-Fi Networks That Are Not Compatible With SleepIQ® Technology"},{"body":"
Overview
\n
\n
Your bed is ready to pair to WiFi once fully assembled.
\n
It will take about 10-20 minutes to pair your SleepIQ® system.
\n
You'll need\n
\n
An Apple or Android device with the latest operating system.
\n
A registered SleepIQ account.
\n
The SleepIQ app from the App Store or Google Play.
\n
Your WiFi network name and password.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Steps
\n
\n
\n
Turn on Bluetooth in your device settings.
\n
\n
\n
Ensure your pump is connected to your bed and your bed is plugged into a power source.
\n
\n
\n
Log into the SleepIQ app with the email and password you previously set up during account registration.
\n
\n
\n
Select Bed (bottom middle of screen).
\n
\n
\n
Choose Pair My Bed.
\n
\n
\n
If you're not seeing pair my bed, open bed settings (the gear at the top right of the screen).
\n
\n
\n
Choose New Bed Parts to start bed pairing. The score ranges from 10-100. 100 is the highest score you can get, but anything between 70-100 is considered really great. Read more about Understanding Your SleepIQ Score.
\n
What is a good heart rate? What is a good breathing rate?
\n
Heart and breath rate recorded by SleepIQ are averaged and are not recorded in real time for diagnostic purposes. Averages help you track consistency and recognize changes. Keep in mind, average heart rate and breath rate can be impacted by cardiovascular conditioning, daily stress, alcohol use, age, weight and overall health. For example, runners tend to have a lower resting heart rate than other people their age. Have a talk with your physician if you are concerned about changes in your biometrics or why your biometrics are different than your sleep partner.
\n
Why isn’t my sleep data recording?
\n
There are a few possible contributors for why your sleep data isn’t recording. Your bed may be offline, you may have Privacy turned on in the Bed tab, you may need to set up your sleeper profile or edit your side of the bed. Read No Sleep Data Recorded.
\n
Does the SleepIQ app work with Alexa?
\n
Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home are not able to control your SleepIQ bed. The SleepIQ app does not connect with either of these devices. If your bed isn't connected to WiFi, you can still control your bed with the SleepIQ app. See Control Your Bed for more information.
\n
What happens if the power goes out? Will I lose my data?
\n
Your bed requires power and a connection to WiFi to record your sleep data. Outages longer than a couple hours may result in no score recorded last night or inaccurate recording during the outage.
\n
After your power is restored, your SleepIQ system will automatically power on and reconnect to WiFi. If you notice that you are not getting a SleepIQ score after your power is restored, we recommend checking your router and unplugging and plugging in your bed to get your bed back online.
\n
Can I edit my sleep session?
\n
The SleepIQ app allows you to edit or remove a sleep session for up to a week after the sleep session was recorded. You can restore your sleep session if you change your mind. After 7 days you can no longer edit, remove or restore your sleep session. Editing allows you to remove time in bed. It does not allow you to add time in bed.
\n
How long can I view my sleep data?
\n
You can view your daily score for a rolling 90 days. Data older than 90 days is stored as weekly, monthly and yearly averages. To see your sleep history, open the SleepIQ app, select Sleep, tap the calendar icon on the top right.
\n
You will see a calendar view with scores for each day. More than one score means you had more than one sleep session. An X means no score was recorded that day. Maybe you were out of town, had Privacy turned on, or your bed was offline. Scores are color coded, so you can easily spot your lowest and highest scores. Select week, month or year to see helpful summaries of your average score, best score and average time in bed for each time period.
\n
Can I turn data recording off?
\n
Yes, you can turn data recording off at any time with the SleepIQ app or Sleep Number® remote.
\n
With your app: Select Bed; scroll down to Privacy. When Privacy Mode is on, no data will be recorded for either side of the bed.
\n
With your remote: Press and hold the enter button until asked if you’d like to turn SleepIQ off, approximately 2-4 seconds. When SleepIQ is turned off, no data will be recorded for either side of the bed. Follow the same steps to turn SleepIQ back on.
\n
Is my data kept private?
\n
Yes, your SleepIQ data is confidential to you and your sleep partner. We consider scores between 60-85 to be pretty great. Scores over 85 are extraordinary. Anything under 60 might mean your sleep needs a little attention. That said, when it comes to sleep, everyone is remarkably unique. Your score should always be interpreted by how you feel. If you’re feeling refreshed in the morning and have energy for your day, you’re probably at a good score for you.
\n
What affects your SleepIQ score?
\n
SleepIQ uses time in bed, movement, bed exits, heart rate and breaths to calculate daily score. SleepIQ uses your averages to help you understand what’s good for you.
\n
Your Sleep: The more restful your sleep, the higher your score. Restful sleep is green. Restless sleep is orange. Bed exits are red. Time to fall asleep is gray.
\n
Your Biometrics: The more stable your heart rate and breaths, the higher your score. Daily biometrics that are higher or lower than your personal average can contribute to a lower score.
\n
Your Goal: The closer you are to your goal, the higher your score. That means sleeping more or less than your sleep goal can result in a lower score.
\n
If you need to, you can adjust your sleep goal with the SleepIQ app. Open the Sleep tab, scroll down to My Sleep Goal, tap View Details, tap Adjust My Sleep Goal. Make sure to save your changes! You can always increase after you're consistently hitting your goal.
\n
Your Averages: Your averages make your daily score more meaningful, because they give you a personalized point of comparison. After a couple weeks of sleeping in your bed, you’ll be well on your way to knowing your average score. A higher-than-average score indicates you’re sleeping well; a lower-than-average score indicates you could be sleeping better.
\n
Improving Your Score
\n
We know understanding your score is important to you, because you care about improving your score, and that's why improving your sleep is our favorite topic too! We could chat for hours...but, if we could only give one tip, it would be…Routines.
\n
We’ve noticed sleepers with the highest scores tend to have the most consistent routines. They go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Consistent routines are a byproduct of healthy commitments you make and keep. The SleepIQ app can help you start a new routine. Give your bed two weeks to improve data recording. Avoid baselining your bed too often. Read Baseline Your Bed for instructions.
\n
2. Verify your bed time zone.
\n
You can check and edit the bed's time zone with the SleepIQ app. An accurate time zone is important for recording the correct in and out of bed times. See Edit Profile for steps to edit your bed's time zone.
\n
Good to know:
\n
Adjusting your Sleep Number setting immediately after getting out of bed can interfere with accuracy while SleepIQ is finalizing your SleepIQ score. If you like to inflate your bed to 100 in the morning, we recommend waiting 20 minutes after you get out of bed.
\n
Your SleepIQ system can record multiple sleep sessions. If you take short naps during the day you may notice a really low score for those sleep sessions. The score that matters most is your main sleep session. The dates at the top of the Sleep screen will tell you what sleep session you are looking at. Scroll through the dates to make sure you're looking at the correct sleep session.
