Rated 2 out of 5 by from Remote Control disaster Purchased the bed locally and had good service. About a year and a half after purchasing the bed, I accidentally put the remote in the washer and damage it. Well, the bed was stuck in the upright position. The bed does not have a manual switch to release the bed so we had to sleep with the bed in an upright position which caused a hardship on my husband. My husband liked/enjoyed the bed until this happen. Now we are concern if the power goes out and we can adjust the bed. This bed system need a back-up system for times like this. Second the price for the controls are different on the company's web page than what we were charged. I don't know if I would recommend this bed to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied We bought our first Select comfort mattress in 1993 and it is still in service today. It is now relegated to the fifth wheel trailer but surprisingly the chambers hold air all year without issue even though we only use the trailer a few times a year. We replaced the chambers in that one when it was about 12 years old due to a small leak and bought a replacement air chamber because the original one although still functioning was very loud. When we bought the new bed it came with a much quieter air pump so we decided to make the upgrade. Since then we have bought two more as well as one for each of our sons. Now based on our recommendation both my sisters in law have Select Comfort mattresses. Because of the issues people report with the remotes we buy the bed with the hard wired remote. We really love our bed. She likes her side at 85 and i like mine at 40.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Remote Failure complaint Like so many other purchasers of teh sleep number bed, neitherboth of our "classic" remotes (we have 2) no longer displays the nmbers. The LCD display started going out 5 or 6 years ago, and now it is completely gone. On the occassional time I do want to change my sleep setting, it is all guess work. We also have the remote to adjust the elevation of the bed. It too no longer works. Granted, they are about 10 years old, but based on my experience ane the reviews of many others, it is apparent the quality that goes into the bed does not go into the accessories.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad Remote I Love the Bed but hate the Remote and since the bed is no good without the remote , this presents a problem. This remote started losing portions of the digital display within a year of purchase . Now there is no longer any display. I have a watch with a digital display that is over 5 years old and still functions fine. That watch cost $24.95. For a product that cost as much as this bed you would think that they would get a quality remote to go with it. If not for the Remote I would highly recommend this bed. I t seems like mine is not the only problem with the remote's. Sleep number should replace their obviously defective remotes for free.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Remotes do not last This is the second remote that failed. You can't adjust the bed without remote. The LED display malfunctions, flawed design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Classic Remote Failed The top two thirds of the LCD screen on my Classic Series remote control stopped working. It was never abused in any way and only received regular use, but the LCD just quit working. The remote still worked to change the pressure, but I had to guess at the setting number (imagine no being able to see anything but the bottom half of numbers). To change the pressure setting, I need to run it all the way up to 100 and then count the steps downward until I reached the desired setting. I called customer service and all they would do was knock-off some of my replacement cost, which doesn't seem fair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Romote replacement is expensive! Bought bed in 2009. Just had to pay over $115.00 to get a new remote control. Because it has a memory which we never used, the basic remote won't work on our bed. The basic remote costs $49.00.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleep number chat line Excellent service from their chat line! I am overseas and chatted to consultant WENDI who was able to sort out my dilemma regarding my remote quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend this service if unable to get joy through other methods.
