Sleep Number ® In Balance ™ Layer
Does not work as Advertised
I read the reviews and although they were mixed I decided to try it. This product does not work as advertised. The pad does nothing to cool off the heat from the memory foam. Very disappointed I spent the money.

It doesn't work. I don't see how this is getting any positive reviews. It initially feels cool but after being in one spot for any amount of time, it actually gets hotter than the mattress alone. We have only had it for a few days so we will give it a little more time, but I don't see how it will magically start working.

This is the one
After trying the total protection mattress cover and being unhappy with it, we exchanged it for this one and it was the right choice for us. We like the coolness of the pad and the softness of it.
It was the right one for us.

Happy at first, now sad.
We are definitely "hot" sleepers and this layer worked great at keeping us cool... until... we washed it. The description says it will still keep it's cooling property after you wash it but we did not find that to be true at all and are so disappointed. We washed it according to the instructions on the tag but it's barely cool anymore. And of course, we are outside of the 30 day mark. Bummed.

Does what it claims to do!
We have the new x12 split memory foam mattress bed which tends to sleep warmer than some of the other mattresses because of the foam. That doesn't adversely effect me at all but my husbands doesn't need anything that causes him to get any hotter while sleeping than he already gets. We purchased the "InBalance Layer" pad because we could feel the difference for ourselves when we examined it in the store. Of course feeling it in the store and actually sleeping on it are not the same. My husband exercises hard and his metabolism and core temperture runs hot. As a result, he almost always wakes up soaked in sweat, especially if he uses more than just a sheet to cover with. He says this pad works. For the first time in longer than he can remember, he is sleeping comfortably and not waking up with damp or wet bed clothes. He says the pad is fantastic and he is very pleased that it does what it claims to do, therefore, it's worth the price we paid. I do hate that it is so expensive, but you get what you pay for. I'm just glad to works for my husband and so is he.

We purchased one within a month of purchasing our bed, as our bed sleeps very, very warm. It does not work, and did not feel like driving 50 miles to return it...strike that, could NOT return it once purchased. We spent over $150 for this pad, which didn't work, and ended up purchasing a cheap memory foam pad for $39 and it works so much better.

Very Hot in a Few Hours
Gets very hot after a few hours, I would not recommend this product.

Just What I needed
I sleep hot in the summer time.. I needed something to help keep me cool at night. I'm not sure if weight or age matters but I am a medium sized woman middle aged and this works GREAT! I would get so hot at night it would keep me awake & this worked wonders! It's expensive but I researched & this was the only thing that was like a thin mattress pad so I didn't have to add too much thickness to my bed!! I am considering getting a pillow case too!! just waiting for a sale..
