Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready to buy a spare! Have had the Dual Temp Layer for our split King for about 5 months now. Almost did not try one due to the bad reviews. Not sure what the unhappy reviewers are expecting because it works great for my wife and I. It has been a great help with my wife's hot flashes. She can have her side cool while mine is more moderate. One key to proper operation is simply reading the instructions - you have to start the units about an hour before going to bed so that the temperatures can adjust. We have not experienced any issues with the foam bunching excessively, and the noise is a constant level that is easy to get used to. The hoses from the air units on each side of the bed and the awkward fitting of the sheets is just a necessity. My wife likes it so much that she is ready to buy a spare to keep in reserve in case Sleep Number quits making these so we can have one for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now I miss my bed terribly when I'm traveling! I'm writing this review after having read some of the negative reviews. I agree with a few things (it's louder than a ceiling fan, it bunches, it's not as comfortable as the mattress itself) but not with others. The noise is a steady hum, so you can learn to sleep with it. We have had four units for over a year, and they've all worked without a problem. I do think it's important to read and follow all the directions. The units are meant to keep the temperature under the covers more comfortable, especially if you have two people who like different temperatures. However, the units cannot heat or cool to a large delta from the ambient temperature. That is, this is not a substitute for heating or air conditioning your room. What you got now you got is not a substitute for heating or air conditioning your room. The instructions give the specific temperature ranges. Also, it's important that the units have plenty of air flow and be filters are clean. The type of sheets you have matter, too. You want sheets that allow airflow from the pad, but you want a cover that keeps the warm or cool air contained; i.e., one that doesn't allow airflow. The bunching is kind of annoying, but it's mitigated by a good installation of the straps and tighter fitting sheets. As for my experience with the heating and cooling itself, I use it almost every night. I bought it to help with hot flashes, and it was great. But now I find I like it slightly warm in the winter, too. I would agree it's not perfect, but I've also found nothing else that comes even close to making me comfortable at night. The one thing I would hope to see in a future version would be a timer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Ever Guys, When you install this rascal, take out the foam insert if you can and just use the filter system. The foam tends to get bound up and makes for an uncomfortable situation. The system itself is amazing! It works by sending air through the mattress pad which wicks off the heat from your body giving a cooling sensation. My wife and I love it and makes for a great nights rest. Don't think twice about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my layer! I love the DualTemp layer. The cool temp meets my needs well. Now I don't have to use my fan to keep me cool at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like it - I use the cool setting I was hesitant to get this because of all the negative reviews. I *love* my adjustable Sleep Number bed and so I decided to go with their brand cooling mattress pad since I wanted one that could accommodate an adjustable bed. I am very happy I did. I am having no problem with any movement of the cooling bladders so far and I've been using this every night/day for a month. The only negative - and this would be with any of these pads - is that they obviously take away a little from the advantage of the Sleep Number system and the bed topper itself isn't as pliable. But for me this was worth the trade-off. I put the cooler on maximum for 20 minutes before I get into bed (I got the twin one for my half - my husband didn't want one on his side.) The sound does not wake my husband. I then get into the bed and lower it to low or medium cool. This has helped me sooo much and I now sleep without constantly flinging blankets and covers around all night. Highly recommended. I haven't tried the warming element and doubt I will, so I can only recommend the cool setting and vouch for its comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Duel Cooling Product My husband and I purchased the Dual Air Conditioning Topper and we both love it. Sometimes it gets too cold for me in the middle of the night but the remote quickly adjusts the temperature and then it becomes perfect to fall back asleep with. Since we do sleep with a white noise machine at night, the motor sound does not bother us at all. For me personally, I use to sweat a lot at night, even with our ceiling fan. No anymore!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sleep of my life! I never write online reviews (kind of a lurker, I always read them!), but after seeing so many bad reviews, I felt the need to share my experience with it. We purchased a king i8 bed, and the DualTemp to go along with it about 2 months ago. We've previously owned a sleep number bed for close to 10 years, so this was our second. We were sold on the DualTemp even before getting to the store, we have a relative that bought one (for a non-Sleep Number bed), and loved it. Our experience has been nothing but positive. We turn it on about 20 minutes before we get to bed, on the first heat setting. I've always been a warm sleeper, and couldn't imagine putting more heat into my bed, but after the first night, I'm a believer. It's kept my body temperature consistent throughout the night, and with the Sleep IQ in our i8 bed, I'll typically have nights 80 & above in the scoring system. I can safely say that in the past 2 months, I've never slept better than I am now. The noise from the fan units was my biggest fear prior to setting everything up, as I typically require dead silence to sleep. However, with the unit placed under the bed, it's a very consistent white noise, not loud at all. I believe that the fan volume has helped me to not wake up at every little creek in the house or car door slam outside. I want to be clear, in my opinion, the fan is not loud at all when placed under the bed. We also purchased the Lyocell sheets with our bed. The material is designed to allow air through the sheets, and I truly believe that many of the poor comments about the DualTemp system are due to having the wrong sheets on the bed. The DualTemp needs to breathe to work, and if you have thick cotton or flannel sheets, it simply won't do the job it's designed to do. With that said, I won't be buying a bunch of Lyocell sheets due to their very high price, but for now, I can't imagine using another sheet set & getting the same results. We haven't had to make any adjustments to the DualTemp layer at all. I see some other reviews saying to adjust it every week or every 2 weeks. Maybe we don't toss & turn as much as others, but when you can fully sleep through the night like never before, maybe that's the trick. My only complaint is with the Sleep IQ mobile app (I know, different product to review, but hear me out!). I want to turn on my DualTemp from downstairs using the app! Call me lazy, but if I can get my Sleep IQ info on the app within the house on the same WiFi network, I want to be able to turn the DualTemp on as well within the app, and not have to go upstairs 20 minutes before we go to bed to do it. Don't believe all the negative hype, set your system up how it's designed & use it how it's designed, and it's well worth it.
