Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marriage saver! I was freezing my husband (and dogs) every night with the AC and ceiling fan running full blast and I was still waking up sweating several times a night. None of us were sleeping well. They were too cold (one of the dogs would visibly shiver and I would cover him with a blanket!) and I was too hot. I decided to buy the DualTemp when I went into a Sleep Number store to buy sheets for our Split King. I was hesitant because of the price and the reviews, but decided to try it. Love it! We are all sleeping so much better! The ceiling fan stays off and the AC can be a few degrees warmer now. They aren't miserably cold anymore and I don't wake up sweating. Honestly, it is some of the best money I have ever spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Product That Delivers We've had a Sleep Number C.King since 2008 and my wife started having her "change" the very next year. We've tried many different products that wick away sweat, but none could cool her body. Three-four times a night should would need to get up and change her clothes and lay on the bathroom tiled floor to feel cool. So it's no joke that if there was a solution I was going to get it for her. We spent the last year trying more products and it wasn't until we started talking about possibly getting another bed, did we consider a DualTemp Layer. The great thing about Sleep Number is you get to use the products on a trial basis. In this instance, for us, the trial was over the first night. We did find a solution and it's a GAME CHANGER! My wife for the first time in many years slept though without need to change her clothes or get up multiple times to get cool. The DualTemp Layer does it for her and she sleeps soundly through the night. My one recommendation is that you invest in a Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) that you can pick up from BestBuy or Amazon. We have the two DualTemp compressors and one air compressor for the firmness connected to a 750Watt UPS. This will keep the units working for about 200 minutes when power goes out and provides brownout and surge protection for the pumps. The other added benefit is that I to am getting great sleep, because I often wake too warm but not the sweats. Thanks to everyone at SleepNumber for this solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready to buy a spare! Have had the Dual Temp Layer for our split King for about 5 months now. Almost did not try one due to the bad reviews. Not sure what the unhappy reviewers are expecting because it works great for my wife and I. It has been a great help with my wife's hot flashes. She can have her side cool while mine is more moderate. One key to proper operation is simply reading the instructions - you have to start the units about an hour before going to bed so that the temperatures can adjust. We have not experienced any issues with the foam bunching excessively, and the noise is a constant level that is easy to get used to. The hoses from the air units on each side of the bed and the awkward fitting of the sheets is just a necessity. My wife likes it so much that she is ready to buy a spare to keep in reserve in case Sleep Number quits making these so we can have one for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now I miss my bed terribly when I'm traveling! I'm writing this review after having read some of the negative reviews. I agree with a few things (it's louder than a ceiling fan, it bunches, it's not as comfortable as the mattress itself) but not with others. The noise is a steady hum, so you can learn to sleep with it. We have had four units for over a year, and they've all worked without a problem. I do think it's important to read and follow all the directions. The units are meant to keep the temperature under the covers more comfortable, especially if you have two people who like different temperatures. However, the units cannot heat or cool to a large delta from the ambient temperature. That is, this is not a substitute for heating or air conditioning your room. What you got now you got is not a substitute for heating or air conditioning your room. The instructions give the specific temperature ranges. Also, it's important that the units have plenty of air flow and be filters are clean. The type of sheets you have matter, too. You want sheets that allow airflow from the pad, but you want a cover that keeps the warm or cool air contained; i.e., one that doesn't allow airflow. The bunching is kind of annoying, but it's mitigated by a good installation of the straps and tighter fitting sheets. As for my experience with the heating and cooling itself, I use it almost every night. I bought it to help with hot flashes, and it was great. But now I find I like it slightly warm in the winter, too. I would agree it's not perfect, but I've also found nothing else that comes even close to making me comfortable at night. The one thing I would hope to see in a future version would be a timer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Ever Guys, When you install this rascal, take out the foam insert if you can and just use the filter system. The foam tends to get bound up and makes for an uncomfortable situation. The system itself is amazing! It works by sending air through the mattress pad which wicks off the heat from your body giving a cooling sensation. My wife and I love it and makes for a great nights rest. Don't think twice about it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like it - I use the cool setting I was hesitant to get this because of all the negative reviews. I *love* my adjustable Sleep Number bed and so I decided to go with their brand cooling mattress pad since I wanted one that could accommodate an adjustable bed. I am very happy I did. I am having no problem with any movement of the cooling bladders so far and I've been using this every night/day for a month. The only negative - and this would be with any of these pads - is that they obviously take away a little from the advantage of the Sleep Number system and the bed topper itself isn't as pliable. But for me this was worth the trade-off. I put the cooler on maximum for 20 minutes before I get into bed (I got the twin one for my half - my husband didn't want one on his side.) The sound does not wake my husband. I then get into the bed and lower it to low or medium cool. This has helped me sooo much and I now sleep without constantly flinging blankets and covers around all night. Highly recommended. I haven't tried the warming element and doubt I will, so I can only recommend the cool setting and vouch for its comfort.
