SLEEPIQ® TECHNOLOGY

SleepIQ® technology, the bed’s operating system, is embedded into every Sleep Number smart bed. Its proprietary, dynamic algorithm — which measures sleep time, restful and restless sleep, average heart rate and respiratory rate — gathers billions of longitudinal biometric and sleep data points from real-world sleepers.

It is always learning and adapting: Making effortless adjustments to improve sleep, providing actionable insights for consumers, and connecting quality sleep to health through highly accurate longitudinal data.

SleepIQ® technology is a product platform built on an advanced IoT architecture that incorporates devices embedded with sensors, software, network connectivity and other necessary electronics to enable them to collect and exchange data in real-time. In addition, the SleepIQ® system has an advanced cloud back end running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. The SleepIQ® system further includes a mobile app and tools such as Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that enable interaction of software components.

The SleepIQ® IoT design allows hundreds of thousands of devices to be sensed, communicated with and controlled remotely across the network infrastructure, creating future opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based cloud computing systems, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy, response and economic benefit in addition to reduced user management.

Processed data is sent to the cloud backend every second via WiFi, where it is stored and further analyzed using cloud computing to generate a consumer-friendly sleep score (SleepIQ® score). The SleepIQ® app is used to see sleep metrics (including SleepIQ® score, Sleep Number® setting, biometrics, sleep times and motion profile) and to control the adjustable features of the Sleep Number smart bed.
