Sleep Number spoke with Rachel Lang, an astrologer certified by the American Federation of Astrologers, who consults with individuals, businesses and corporations on all things astrology. Aries

As a fire sign ruled by Mars, the planet of action, those born under the Ram have a lot of energy. You often push your body until you run out of fuel — then find you're too exhausted to sleep. Sleep Horoscope: A bedtime relaxation ritual can help you transition into sleep more gracefully. Take a warm bath before bed to help calm some of that Aries fire. 

 

Taurus

Taurus is about comfort and sensuality, like fine fabrics and plush pillows. If the Bull isn't comfortable, you can have a problem falling, or staying, asleep. Poly-blend sheets won't cut it, Taurus, nor will tight, restricting or uncomfortable PJs. Sleep Horoscope: Pamper the senses. Consider gentle music, fluffy pillows, soft-as-silk sheets and a diffuser with lavender oil. 

 

Gemini

Those born under the Twins have a hard time shutting off their minds. You're thinking about a million things you should have done or didn't accomplish. Sleep Horoscope: Set your mind to rest by keeping a sleep journal to record your bedtime routine and its corresponding night's sleep. Your journal can shed light on what may keep you up at night, and recording your worries gives them over to the page, freeing you up for sweet dreams.

 

Cancer

Those who fall under Cancer have a need to process emotions outwardly to avoid letting things stew. At night, Cancer reviews the day, and replays conversations or situations encountered. Sleep Horoscope: Talk through your day with a loved one to help feel peaceful and connected before bed. If you don't have a sleep partner, chat with or text a friend, or post something about your day on social media.

 

Leo

The Lion needs a resting space that's an expression of your unique style and taste. It's important for Leo to love the look and feel of your bedroom — think cozy cave. Sleep Horoscope: Leo is light sensitive, so light-canceling curtains or blinds can help you sleep best. Make sure the bedroom is a cool, dark, comfortable haven that you enjoy entering. Choose color, linens and accessories you love. 

 

Virgo

Worry-wart Virgo weighs every detail of their day-to-day as well as tomorrow's to-do list. You can keep yourself up at night if not careful. Sleep Horoscope: Adopt a nighttime ritual to still or quiet the mind, like listening to a guided meditation. Reading fiction works, too, because fiction stimulates creative imagination, which helps counterbalance worry.

 

Libra

As an air sign, Libra needs peace and harmony but also has a hard time saying no. Getting a solid night's sleep helps the scales feel balanced and relaxed the next day. Sleep Horoscope: A bedside diffuser with calming essential oils, like vanilla, jasmine or ylang ylang may provide the balance you crave. Some use rose quartz on the nightstand to symbolize love and connection, which may help Libra feel peaceful.

 

Scorpio

The Scorpion is protective of nightly “me time" and craves routine. A water ritual is the perfect fix to help calm Scorpio's mind and ground their energy. Sleep Horoscope: Since salt is a natural cleanser/detoxifier, try a salt bath with a calming essential oil like rose, or a before-bed shower with a sleep-inducing scented soap like lavender.

 

Sagittarius

As a fire sign, Sagittarius needs healthy outlets for energy throughout the day like a walk, hike, yoga or gym workout. At night, the Archer has trouble transitioning into sleep mode. Sleep Horoscope: Drink calming chamomile tea blends. Fire also soothes Sagittarius, so light a candle or sit by a fire. Empty the teacup and put out the flame before settling in.

 

Capricorn

Capricorn needs structure and routine to transition from work to sleep mode. Otherwise, you'll keep going and miss valuable sleep hours. You also may wake with thoughts and ideas during the night. Sleep Horoscope: Set a bedtime and stick to it. Keep a worry journal on a bedside table to record nightly musings.

 

Aquarius

The water bearer is a philosopher, thinker and teacher. Aquarius has an active mind and nervous system. You might be a light sleeper as a result. Sleep Horoscope: Earplugs and an eye pillow can keep out noise or light that disturbs sleep. A piece of amethyst on the nightstand may also help ground the energy in the room, making falling asleep easier.

 

Pisces

People born under the fish are always willing to help others. They're intuitive and may be more in touch with their emotions than other signs. Pisces tend to be light sleepers and lucid dreamers. Sleep Horoscope: Since Pisces is often artistic and musically inclined, you may benefit from playing or listening to music before bed. Creatives may paint, color or craft to release pent-up frustrations.
