Blue Star Families, Synchrony, Sleep Number and NFL star Clyde Edwards-Helaire honored 10 local military heroes and their families at a free smart bed giveaway event, plus $1,000 savings accounts.
Chinook helicopter mechanic Nolan Schimelpfenig and his wife Allison's new queen Sleep Number 360® c4 smart bed couldn't be arriving at a better time. The couple had planned to buy a new bed set but opted to save up to purchase a house instead.
Presented by Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Nolan and Allison were among 10 military families who on January 30, 2023, received a Sleep Number 360® smart bed and a $1,000 Synchrony savings account from our 21 year financing partner, Synchrony, with the collaboration of the nonprofit Blue Star Families at a Sleep Number® store in Kansas City.
"Blue Star Families knows that military life is hard -- the inflexible working hours, constant moves and long deployments. We can't do this work, to address those challenges, without the support of organizations like Synchrony and Sleep Number, and people like Clyde, who continue to step up year after year," said Penny Bolden, senior director, cause partnerships at Blue Star Families.
The smart bed giveaway was held in honor of military heroes' daily sacrifices so our families can sleep safe and sound at night.
Blue Star Families, a long-time Sleep Number partner, is the country's largest military family support organization, while Synchrony employs over 2,500 veterans and their families and has an active Veteran's Network providing job development and fellowship.
"It was truly an honor to join alongside our long-standing partner Sleep Number, as well as Blue Star Families and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in providing these families better sleep and a savings account. It was a privilege to honor the sacrifices out heroes make daily," said Diana Turner, SVP, Synchrony.

HOW A NEW SMART BED CAN ENHANCE PERFORMANCE
According to sleep medicine expert Dr. Peter Polos, sleep disruptions, particularly during the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep cycle, can negatively impact how you feel each morning, possibly resulting in sluggishness or inability to concentrate.
"In order to learn and retain what we need to, the proper amount of sleep and sleep stages are important," he says.
